JAZZ
Duncan grew up listening to a lot of jazz and made a name for himself early on (aged 12) in the ‘Trad jazz’ circuit performing as a guest pianist with such bands as ‘Phil Mason’s New Orleans All Stars’ at festivals around the country run by the Ken Colyer Trust and at London's 100 Club.
A couple of years later he formed a jazz/funk quintet known as ‘The Grasshoppers’ with fellow musicians at Dartford Grammar School, performing at venues including the Mick Jagger Centre and on tour to Hanau, Germany.
Also bringing his improvisational skills to the realm of silent film accompaniment, his acclaimed appearance interpreting Charlie Chaplin's 'The Immigrant' and 'The Cure' at the RNCM Chamber Music Festival 2011 brought attention from the national press - click here to read.
'The programme was enhanced by the very competent, clear and
often amusing introductions where Duncan obviously engaged with his
audience with aplomb'
